Ok maybe it’s a corney headline, but I don’t care… it’s true the benefits of bee pollen are huge and though it’s not something you see stocked on the shelves of GNC it’s worth talking about!

I first read about bee pollen about 1-2 years ago from Tosca Reno. I read up on it realized the little yellow pellets but then I got wrapped up in life and my desire for bee pollen fell to the wasteside. Until this past weekend!

We were in Savannah, GA with my parents and came across a local honey store and wouldn’t you know that they had a jar of bee pollen! So even with my mom staring at me like I was a bit on the loco side, I snatched it up and decided to give it a try.

The Benefits Of Bee Pollen

  • Also known as the “perfect food” due to it’s composition:  more than 96 different nutrients, including every nutrient that is needed to sustain human life. It is made up of 40% protein, most of it usable by the body without any further breakdown or metabolism.
  • Bee pollen combines 22 amino acids, vitamin C, folic acid and B-complex, polyunsaturated fatty acids, enzymes, and carotene – all major antioxidants for the body to fight pesty free radicals floating around the body.
  • Includes several trace elements (we NEED them but in small doses) which include iron, zinc, manganese, copper, calcium, magnesium, and potassium
  • Helps strengthen the immune system- due to the high concentration of amino acids, vitamins (B, C, D, E), beta carotene and others.
  • Build resistance to allergies, a real plus here in Charleston!
  • Bee pollen helps you to deal with stress Because it has a full complement of amino acids, essential fatty acids and vitamins that help regulate mood, taking bee pollen supplements can help you control the stress in your life.
  • Increase energy and endurance… A great thing for busy people on the go!

Buzzin’ Like A Bee

Don’t worry you won’t start to buzz like a bee, and while I wish I could tell you I’ve noticed some huge changes the truth is I have only taken it for 2 days so that’s not the case. Plus because it’s such a powerful food the recommended dose to start is just 2-3 little pellets and then double each day until you get up to a tsp.

So right not I am on a whopping 6 pellets! But they taste pretty good, kinda of like honey and flour mixed together. If some of my guru’s recommend it and the research supports them then I am willing to give bee pollen a try!
