Two days… that’s it until we waive goodbye to 2013 and say hello to 2014.
Instead of looking at it as the end of one year, let’s get excited about the start of something new and fresh!
Here at Lifting Revolution I have a ton of great things planned for 2014, and one kicks off on Wednesday.
The 30 Day Squat Challenge was such a success… the winner was emailed yesterday, so big congratulations to Angie.
It was so great, that I am proposing a new challenge at the start of every month for 2014.
Think of what extra things you can accomplish with your body (and mind for that matter) by spending just an extra 1-5 minutes per day of the next year on yourself.

This challenge was created after requests from you asking for a core workout challenge…
The Core & More Challenge
January’s challenge is utilizing two exercises (don’t fret): Planks & Push-Ups!
It’s going to be a progressive challenge. Each week, the intensity will be increased just a spidge. Nothing crazy, just enough to help us get better results by the end of the month.
For week one, every single day you are challenged to complete a 45 second plank and than directly follow it up with 20 push-ups.
Push-ups can be done on knees or regular.
For week two, the plank time will be increased to 60 seconds, followed by 30 push-ups.
See where this is going?
For week three, that 60 second plank will now be a 75 second plank followed by 40 push-ups. Don’t worry, weeks one and two will prepare you to handle this!
The final stretch of the challenge will be composed of a 90 second plank and 50 push-ups.
For those final days, you’ll realize just how strong not only your core is getting but your upper body as well!
Why Planks & Push-Ups?
I decided on planks and push-ups because let’s face it, they rock. But they’re also able to be done anywhere! If you forget about the challenge one day until its time to crawl into bed, no worries, just do it right there on the floor!

That’s what I will continue to strive for with the upcoming challenges, mini exercises that you can do absolutely anywhere! Heck some of you told me you did your squats in the shower!
I also chose these two moves because they aren’t isolated moves. They literally work every single big muscle group in the body: shoulders, chest, core, butt, thighs, even your toes! Just make sure to engage all of these muscles when you’re doing the moves, okay?
