Whoo, I am still tired from yesterday even after a full night of sleep! And and I took advantage of the slightly overcast day and headed to the beach. It’s great when the clouds are out a little bit here because it means a slight breeze on the beach and less people (which means more room for bocci ball).
The Best Workout For Your Entire Body
We had a great time but what gets me the most is how sore and tired I am. I guess it is because we are from the here, so we don’t take advantage of the beach as much as we should but we LOVE it. The waves were actually decent in Charleston terms (it’s always flat), so we played and swam for around an hour. The currents were strong and with waves that were over my head means I had to work.
Fighting the strong currents and trying to get out past the break worked muscles in a way that hasn’t been done in a while… In fact, you can burn over 400 calories in 1 hour from swimming in the beach, though I bet with strong currents, that number goes up!
Today my traps are sore, my abs is sore and my legs feel like I ran a 10K. It was a great total body workout and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. This is what I call active workouts… getting out and doing something besides gym workouts… it’s the time when you get to use the muscles that you’ve been toning from your weight workouts.
Yummy Healthy Beach Snacks
We took some great snacks… I had never had these before but found them in my local grocery store and thought they deserved a shot due to their label:
Made with whole grains, brown rice and some great mono and polysaturated fats (the good fats).
These were delicious! I think everyone else thought so too since the bag was empty when we got home. But there are other flavors I am excited to give a try!
These are great plain, but would rock with a guacamole dip too!
