Dear Fitness Diary… My Bridal Workout

by TaylorR on June 17, 2010

Tomorrow marks exactly 3 months until I get to walk down the aisle… I am so excited and now starting to get a little overwhelmed. So what happens whenever I feel overly stressed like this? I turn to my workouts. I have upped the intensity of my workouts lately simply because I want to look not just good on my wedding day but amazing… but I can’t deny that the stress of getting everything done and on budget hasn’t fueled my workouts.

I am doing awesome intervals after I finish my strength training and let me tell you that is killer! I am really giving it my all with 1 minute to 1 minute of low to extra high intensity. I am going to 2o minutes. Its only been two weeks but I can already tell and difference, it only sucks because I always lose my boobs first (they’re also the first place I gain weight), I am just thankful I am having cups added to my dress to add that “va-va-voom” look (well, as much as I can have anyways).

Nutrition is going well, I have upped my food intake a bit to help recovery from such intense workouts. For example I used to eat just two eggs in the morning and it felt like plenty, not I am eating two eggs and three egg whites scrambled! Of course topped with a bit of garlic seasoning and hot sauce. Since tomorrow is officially 12 weeks out I am cutting out sugar and treating it like I am training for a show. Of course I will allow myself a cheat day or two (like my bachelorette party for example)!

But so far so good… now I just have to figure out this whole catering menu thing!

What was your fitness plan like when you were planning your wedding?

Here’s my workout from this morning:

Pyramid Bridal Workout:

  1. DB Split squats… 35 lbs-6 reps… 30 lbs-8 reps… 25 lbs-10 reps (this kills by the way)
  2. Cable kick backs… 35.5 lbs-8 reps… 27.5 lbs-10 reps… 22.5-12 reps
  3. DB Bench Press… 35 lbs- 6 reps… 30 lbs 8 reps… 25 lbs… 9 reps (couldn’t get the 10th)
  4. Lawn mower rows… 30 lbs-6 reps… 25 lbs-8 reps… 20 lbs-10 reps
  5. DB Shoulder press…30 lbs (a record)-6 reps… 25 lbs-8 reps… 20 lbs-9 reps (couldn’t get that 10th)
  6. 21′s… did this with a 20 lb pre-weighted barbell.
  7. 20 squat jumps, 10 lunge jumps, 10 burpees, 10 donkey jumps (do this only if you have time)

I followed it up with 20 minutes of intense intervals on the elliptical, I think I looked quite disguisting when I stepped off.

Post Workout Snack:

EAS Protein Shake with 1 tbsp peanut butter (all natural)

Ha, ha – my fitness plan was “I’m so completely stressed out by planning a wedding in a different state than I live in that I lose 15 lbs without even trying.” I really wasn’t much into fitness at that time, but I was the skinniest I’ve ever been just due to stress.
