Happy Fat Tuesday!

If you don’t know what Fat Tuesday is then just ignore this post today… you won’t hear me say that often.

Lots of people will be fasting tomorrow for Lent, and millions more will just be partying it up today for the whole Mardi Gras thing, using Fat Tuesday as an excuse to well… get fat for the day.

What’s the deal with Fat Tuesday?

The real reason for Fat Tuesday isn’t for Mardi Gras party purposes but because in the Catholic Faith (and several others follow), people are suppose to fast for Ash Wednesday, or the kick off to Lent. So it makes sense to eat more than normal today since you might not be getting much in tomorrow.

Another reason that I use is that if you’re givng something up food wise for Lent this is the last day to enjoy it before you kiss it goodbye for the next 40 days and 40 nights.

But it’s definitely not an excuse to throw out your entire healthy eating diet for the day and just go crazy. Eating more for fasting purposes does not mean eating trash. Fill up still on your normal diet items and just put more on your plate!

What am I giving up?

Chocolate… yes, I am embarrassed by my love of chocolate and sweets. It’s my downfall. So to help me reach my fitness goals and to help with the Lent season, I am giving up all chocolate items and candy. The candy won’t be so hard, if it doesn’t have chocolate on it then I am not a huge fan… but the chocolate is going to kill me! I will keep posting progress pictures of myself every other Monday to keep motivated and see how this Lent is helping me out!

And like the reasons above you better believe I have already enjoyed my last dark chocolate candy bar for quite a while. And it was delicious!

So what are you giving up, if anything? And what could you NEVER give up?

What could I never give up? Peanut Butter.
