The Easter Bunny is not my friend… I love Easter don’t get me wrong! It’s a great holiday and this year it is also my brother’s 30th birthday, but when it comes to me and my friendship with the Easter Bunny you can say we don’t see eye to eye.
Did you know that behind Halloween, Easter is the next biggest candy consumption day? And I can’t lie… I love candy! Which is why I have a forever hatred with the big while bunny that year after year continues to leave me a basket filled with Cadbury Eggs, Starbursts Jelly Beans, Reese’s Eggs and Peeps… Why do you do this to me?
No matter how old I get (yes I still get a basket from my parents) and no matter how many times I tell them to leave out the candy it seems they can’t resist. So I have my plan this year of how to deal with the big bunny!
Yes, it is only one day a year and so I will likely eat a piece or two of my favorites but the problem is that that is hard to keep to when you have an ENTIRE basket filled with junk… and it doesn’t help that my favorite Easter candy is probably the worst thing for you… Cadbury Eggs.
Let’s just take a moment to reflect on the sugary, chocolate goodness of these eggs:
1 Cadbury Creme Egg:
- 170 calories
- 6 grams of fat
- 25 g of sugar
- 2 grams of protein (yay, it does have protein!)
Happy Easter Neighbor-Spreading Easter Joy
Ok, so this is how I am going to handle this whole thing… I am not even going to bring it into my house. No, I am not a waster, I hate throwing anything away especially since I know how much the Easter bunny has to plan and spend for those gorgeous baskets… but my neighbor loves candy! So before I even walk to my own front door I plan on walking straight to him and handing it over. His parents live out of town so I doubt that he will have his own sugary basket. Dan will love this too, he hates candy in the house!
Probably not the best way to spread the word about health and fitness, but at least I am not dumbing it down my mouth just so I am not wasteful!
The part that gets me is I get junk in my basket and Dan ALWAYS gets a dark chocolate bunny (so much better than milk chocolate for you) and all natural almonds… from the same bunny! Come on now, spread the nutritious stuff! I would love to find some trail mix in my basket this Sunday!
What are your favorite Easter goodies?
