A few weeks ago I decided it was time to overhaul my fitness wardrobe. Since I couldn’t remember the last time I bought new clothes to sweat in, I decided that was a good enough excuse.
Not to mention that with all the videos I make, I enjoy looking nice on camera in clothes I feel comfortable in.
Tips On Picking Out Fitness Tops
- What’s it made of? Fabric matters big time. Some fabrics absorb sweat while others “wick” it away meaning they pull the sweat away from your skin to help it evaporate off faster. Check the tag, fabrics containing polypropylene or more specifically fabrics such as COOLMAX® and SUPPLEX® are effective at wicking. This makes them great for high sweating workouts, and even better is that they won’t be soaking at the end so you don’t feel incredibly gross.
- Breath baby breath! To get the best breathable, avoid tops that are rubber-based or plastic-based. You’ll feel hot and miserable soon after getting started.
- Get the fit. Make sure that a. you feel comfortable in the shape and b. a loose fit is best for intense workouts. Unless you’re biking where tight pants are best.
I ended up with 2 tops. For a girl that wears fitness clothes literally 6 days a week, 2 tops doesn’t make a significant change in my wardrope but it’s a start.
#1: Under Armour Muscle Shirt (Proud In Pink Line):
Except mine is in light pink. I love the “She’s A Fighter”
This is what the back looks like, just a different color top:

#2: Under Armour Victory Tank
I guess I can say that my favorite fitness brand right now is Under Armour. I love the way they feel, how even when I am dripping in sweat my skin can breath and the tops are of course super cute.
Sometimes It’s Okay To Spend Some $$$
If there is one thing I have learned over the years of working out it’s that you get your money’s worth out of fitness clothes.
Good fitness clothes are expensive. I used to just go to Target for everything and while they have some really cute stuff I can tell a huge difference in the way they handle workouts. Not to mention that after 6 months they had to be replaced. Apparently a lot of clothes don’t enjoy getting washed and dried a lot… oops.
Just make sure to follow those three tips at the top when picking out tops (hahaha)… Otherwise you’ll be miserable.
I still have Target clothes but when I know I will be doing a tough workout I pull out the tough guns, the brand name stuff.
It’s like fitness shoes these are the one thing where it is okay to save up some money and get a brand name shoe that fits your workouts and your body. But more on that in another blog.
But I will say that I can’t workout in Nike or New Balance… both of these have been known to give me terrible shin splints so I’ve made the decision to walk away. I bet you can guess what brand my current running shoes are (hehe).

My Little Forest Jump
In unrelated news you’re not going to believe what happened this morning.
I opened the door to take Zoe out to do her business, we walked down the stairs turned the corner and realized that Zoe was face to face with the BIGGEST cat I have ever seen.
This is what I pictured it doing, but since it was about 3x the size of this cat I was pretty freaked.
I did that ridiculous “HISSSSSS” to make it run away but I freaked even more because it only walked away 2 feet and stared us down. Creepy.
So I ran back in with Zoe (she did get a chance to do her morning business). I was so freaked that when i went to teach boot camps, I took my rolling pin with me just in case, lol. Don’t mess with a girl and her rolling pin!
When I got home I realized what the cat had been doing. I found 2 baby bunnies on the ground, unfortunately they were no longer alive. BUT , I also found where they had been living and realized that there was one left in the nest.

I called Dan down like a crazy person because I knew that the mamma was also likely gone. Of course because of my craziness Dan thought my car was on fire or something and once he realized what I was doing and that I was okay and my car was okay he helped me carefully get her out and wrapped up in a homemade burrow.
I have called several vets but because it’s a holiday most are closed and the one I did talk to told me to basically give up on it.
I am a sucker for baby animals so when I hung up I cried.
After talking with lots of friends, I have found a vet that does care for wild animals so first thing tomorrow, if this little guys survives the night, we’ll drive over and see if they can take it on.
I hope so! Who could resist that itty bitty bunny!??
