Happy Father’s Day

by TaylorR on June 20, 2010

I know it’s off the fitness path, but it’s an important day! I want to wish my dad (Daddy-O) and all the other dads out there a wonderful, stress-free Father’s Day!

Hey Dad!

I am so lucky to have a wonderful family and my dad deserves a shout out even if this is a blog for women. We had a great day today as a family. My brother and his wife; Dan and I, and of course my parents packed up a great picnic, loaded up the boat and headed out this morning to a local island called Bull’s Island.

We promised my dad that if he took the boat out we we do all the rest of the work. So Julie and I made the meals (whole wheat subs with turkey) and whole wheat pasta salad… and then all 4 of the kids had boat cleaning duty when we got back, it went so much faster than I remember from when my brother and I used to do it just ourselves.

It was a great day, I think Dad enjoyed it and didn’t feel he had to work too hard.

The island was great because it’s uninhabited and we walked for probably two miles just

Bulls Island

checking out the beach, finding little inlets and marshes and of course collecting sand dollars and other sea shells! It was nice to be out in the sun, and the walking helped to stretch out my legs and butt which were incredibly sore for my workout yesterday! Now I am ready to pass out from all the sun we got today!

How did you spend the day?
