After 9 months of planning the “BIG” Day has come and gone, Dan and I have officially been married for 1 week yesterday and the wedding was amazing. I wouldn’t have changed a thing, we danced our butts off with our closest friends and family, I honestly would say I danced from 5:30 pm until 9:15 pm straight! My body agreed with me the next morning!
Dan was so handsome in his suit and I can’t believe I am his wife, after 5.5 years together, it just feels amazing to call him my husband and no longer my boyfriend. But enough of the sappy talk… the next morning after the wedding we packed up the car and drove for 10 hours to Delray Beach, Florida (it’s about an hour north of Miami).
It was the best time ever, considering that the two of us have never been on a vacation with just us. We rented a little cottage for the week and didn’t follow a structured workout routine the entire week! Our bodies needed the rest after working so hard to get a great wedding body, but that doesn’t mean we let ourselves go either. In fact I didn’t gain one once while I was on the honeymoon and here is how!
How To Avoid Honeymoon Weight Loss
- We rented. It was great having a gorgeous place to rent where we could grill out, pack lunches, and eat our normal
breakfast. Of course we had one big night out but even then we both stuck to grilled items (I choose scallops, Dan had Tuna). The other nights we enjoyed grilled Mahi Mahi, grilled chicken and the final night we enjoyed grilled turkey burgers. The grill was the best option because I didn’t have to clean up anything! For lunch, we would just make sandwiches before heading to the beach
- Stay active. Even though we didn’t “workout” the waves were huge and we spent hours most days swimming and riding waves. I had to work extra hard because the current was really strong and at times would try to pull my feet from under me. It was so much fun though! Just to put it in perspective, I was burning over 300 calories each day with swimming and playing with my hubby! Then we walked a lot on the beach to take in the amazing scenery.
- Love time. Of course we were on our honeymoon, that is all that needs to be said. But again to put into perspective the physical calorie burn, during the week it is possible we burned over 500 calories.
Overall we had the best time ever, and we are so excited for this new chapter in our lives! But I will admit that I am counting down the hours till we go to the gym today! I am planning on lifting heavy and going for it since my body just had a great recovery time.

Congratulations on your marriage. It looks like you two had an awesome honeymoon. Wish I could take another one of those
. Could you post a picture of you in your wedding dress?
Thanks Cathy, I am posting a picture now so make sure to check out the blog!
Congratulations! I just stumbled upon your blog because I’m constantly looking for blogs/ references to keep me motivated. My fiancé and I are getting married in April 2011 in St. Lucia. We’ve been together for 9 years and had quite a long engagement. If it was up to him we would already be celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary. I was never fearful of committing to him, nor was I unsure. I would definitely say that by sharing an apartment with him and living like a married couple, I got comfortable and didn’t necessarily feel the need to make it official. Besides, my parents were together for 15 years before getting married and they’re now together for 31 years. My mom would always say that she loves her relationship as it is and was scared that getting married would destroy that. I know that’s crazy, but maybe that’s why I was in no hurry. There’s a sense of urgency now because I just turned 30 and we don’t want to be together for 10 years without being married.
I’ve been on a quest for the last few months to re-invent my life, live the life that I envision and be the person that I’ve always dreamed of being. Not only have I been reading a lot of books, but I’ve started two blogs. I know that one of the keys to creating lasting changes, is to have a great support system. I refuse to keep making the same resolutions year after year, so I’m committing to taking the necessary actions to create the life that I deserve, have the body that I want and be the person that I should be.
It’s great to discover a blog like yours. I can’t wait to read your post. Please feel free to check out my blogs and let me know what you think.
