In The Magazines: 15 Minute Ab Workout

I was going through a my favorite magaizines this morning with the goal of finding something fun and maybe even a few sex tips of something for the holidays… but I came across this (of course it’s still fun though)… just not sexy.

A recent magazine (Women’s Health) as posted an article giving a 15 minute ab workout that will give abs quick. Yes, I will agree that the exercises are pretty good but the big issue comes from the fact that to get abs you have to lose body fat. This doesn’t come from a 15 minute ab focused workout session.

It comes from intense full body workouts that burn lots of fat and shed calories so that your ab muscles can show through from under that belly layer. Of course it’s important to strengthen the abs to help you move better, have better posture, better twisting and be pain free. So I am not crossing the workout off all together I just think it is VITAL to realize that these isolated workouts aren’t going to transform your body or have you losing inches.

It’s still impossible to pick and choose where you want to lose fat, your body gets to decide for you. So when you lose belly fat you’re going to be sculptig your entire body!

The Ab Workout from Women’s Health

(you can also click to check it out) And then below I will give you a great fat burning, total body sculpting workout you can use!

  • Plank with glute sqeeze 10 reps
  • Oblique V-up 15-25 reps each side
  • Rotating Superwoman 5 reps (holding 15 seconds)
  • Rock and raise 15-25 reps

Fat Blasting Total Body

Do these moves back to back without rest to get the best results. Once you’ve gone through them rest 60 seconds and repeat. Aim for 3 total rotations.

  • Candlestick jumps 12 reps
  • Push-ups 15 reps
  • V-sits 10 reps
  • Lunge walks 30 reps (15/leg)
  • Plank walks 20 reps (10 to right, 10 left)
  • Step-ups 10 reps per leg

These exercises also hit the core so while burning body fat you will be tightening your belly too!
