Everybody Needs Some Help Sometimes…

Remember that old Western Union commercial from back in the day? Well, it sticks that the company isn’t around today to keep that motto up but I will do my best to keep it rolling!

So I am having a few problems of my own… I just looked over at my mantle to see that my poor pumpkin decided to fall

apart… seriously, the entire back just mushed out and made a great pumpkin gut pile on my floor! Ok, so that’s not all that serious but still I am sad about it!

Ok, enough of my sob story, the point is that we all need a little help from time to time with the big and the small issues in our lives. So to help you fight through (and come out stronger and victorious) I have put two of the best motivational clips below. The first being from Dan’s all time favorite movie: The Pursuit of Happiness and the second my exercise, get me going movie: Rocky!

These are not only going to lift your spirits but get you taking action too. Weather it’s with your workout, with your job, family whatever you will be inspired by these… I am going to try and get pumped each morning by watching these!

Before you watch this clip, I am going to tell you the story that sends goosebumps up my arms every time I think of it… on top of that it makes me KNOW that you and I can really do anything if you set your mind to something.

Sylvester Stallone wasn’t always a big, loved movie star. When he first set out with the dream of acting he was shot down by everyone… the big producers and directors, the small guys, and everyone in between. They flat out told Sly that he looked funny, sounded funny and would never make it big in Hollywood.  He was turned down by over 1000 agents (at least that’s what he told Tony Robbins)!

It got so bad that he had to sell his wife’s jewelry and his best friend, his dog (which he got $25) just to try and make ends meet.. which wasn’t going well. He and his wife were starving and couldn’t afford to heat their small apartment. But he refused to give in and get a “office job” because he longed for his goal and he knew that if he settled for the 9-5 routine then it would settle for good and his dream would crumble and just be a “remember when I wanted to be an actor” thought.

So how did Rocky come about?

After reading Edgar Allen Poe’s poetry Sly got he desire to write… and so 2 weeks after his poor dog was sold he sat down and wrote the entire movie in 1 night! After some time he found a couple of guys interested in the script willing to pay $125,000 but Stallone rejected it… one of his requirements was that he was to be the star of the film and they didn’t agree.

They finally offered $35,000, and the chance for Sly to be Rocky (obviously they didn’t think it was worth so much with him being the actor).

What did he do when he got paid? Went and got his dog back… for a staggering $15,000! The point is… he struggled but kept up with his beliefs and his dreams! Have you ever believed in something so much that you would be willing to lose EVERYTHING to get it?

The movie, “Rocky”, ended up costing $1 million to make, and it grossed over $200 million and won an Oscar.
