I am a breakfast person, I have always been a breakfast person. When I was a kid my mom would have my cereal already sitting on the table when I came out of my room. Then when I started fixing my own breakfast, before sitting down, taking a shower, or anything I would walk straight to the kitchen grab a bowl and get my breakfast on.
This is one of the few healthy habits I had as a kid when it came to nutrition. This morning my breakfast let me down. I actually go to bed excited for breakfast (weird I know), so this morning when I went to grab my normal stuff I was mad I haven’t been to the store yet. I had some muesli in the pantry that I have had warm a few times, but it says you can eat it cold too, so I figured what the heck.
What A Let Down
It was so disappointing. The Muesli just taste like eating cold, wet cardboard. Image eating raw oatmeal with some sunflower seeds tossed in and you get the idea. Plus, it did nothing to fill my breakfast cravings. I ended up having to eat a rice cake with all natural peanut butter on it afterwards. What a let down.
I know you’re probably asking, but “Taylor you’ve had it warm what did you expect?” I expected something a hell of a lot better than what I got. When it’s cooked, the oats expand, soften, you know the oatmeal drill. But cold, its just oats. Chewy, dry oats.
In just a few minutes (after I finish my coffee) I am going to get off my couch, get ready for the day, and head straight to the grocery store to get my food back!
Here are my favorite breakfast foods:
- Oatmeal: Great complex carb source, protein, and high energy)
- Scrambled eggs (with hot sauce of course)
- Protein pancakes (the best breakfast food ever)
- Muesli (jk)
I think I am going to go back to making pancakes in the morning. I can fix a pancake faster than my coffee pot can spit out a cup of joe. My pancakes are loaded with protein; health, complex carbs; and taste. If you want the recipe, I have posted it up before so click: Protein Pancake Recipe
