The date is set, the ceremony and reception venues are set… it’s all coming together! I can’t wait for September 18! Just 8 months left and I will be Mrs. Taylor Ryan-Boyle… Yes I am going to hyphenate to make it easy for my readers and clients to get in touch with me… But I am getting off subject.
As a bride-to-be I want to be in the best shape of my life… as do all brides. I want the to wow Dan as I walk down the aisle, I want to wow him even more on our honeymoon! Get your mind out the gutters… I want him to have that look like “yea, I’m a lucky guy” as we enjoy our time together. Of course I want to look good for myself too!
So here’s my bridal fitness program:
- 12 weeks till the wedding I am treating it like a figure competition… June 24th starts the “competition training”
- No sugar… no alcohol (with the exception of the bachelorette party)… and 4 liters of water each day
- Low carb count. I don’t recommend this for everyone but this is the easiest way for my body to let go of fat. I decrease my carbs to around 60 g/day and increase protein to 120 g/day. This varies from women to women depending if you’re carb sensitive or not (I am!).
- Increase my cardio. Right now I am not doing much cardio at all. Really just once a week and then of course I am really active at work. But when I am in training mode I will increase this to 3-4 times a week. Still keeping it at 20 minutes of intense intervals.
- It sounds rough… but it’s just for 12 weeks. And on my wedding day I will feel amazing and look amazing.
- If you noticed… there is still nothing above about calorie counting, because it sucks. There is no reason to count calories if you’re eating clean. And that’s basically all I am doing during this period… taking my clean eating up one notch.
Here is a video I did last year to help you with clean eating decision:
Bridal Workout To Start Today:
Here is a great workout you can start today and use over the next 2-4 weeks. Remember a workout should never last longer because your body will adjust and then you plateau. And this engagement period is all about progressing!
Do each exercise for 12 reps (or aim for 12 reps). They are paired up in trisets… do exercises in each group back to back before resting 60 seconds. Repeat the triset 1-2 more times.
- Split Squats
- Pike push-ups (great for sexy shoulders)
- Bent over row
- Straight Leg Deadlifts
- Bench Press (Dumbbell or barbell)
- Squat Jumps
