Gyms and health clubs are full of all sorts of equipment. From the weights to machines, cardio equipment, and some even have a special personal training area where they have all sorts of gizmo’s and gadgets. I call it the infomercial area because most of it is useless. However I have become a huge fan of incorporating the BOSU ball into my workout.
The BOSU ball is half of a stability ball with a flat bottom. The BOSU ball can be used on it’s flat side as well as the unstable (rounded) ball side. I easily get bored by my 2nd or 3rd set of an exercise and need to add an extra challenge.
The BOSU ball works stabilizer muscles and challenges your work out by adding the balance component. My favorite moves to do with the BOSU ball are:
LUNGES- put the BOSU ball flat side down and alternate lunges with front foot on top of the ball.
PLANK-put BOSU ball unstable side down, place hands in hand slots and hold plank. Added challenge keeping straight body positiong rock BOSU ball forward, backwards and side to side.
. Place BOSU ball unstable side down and with hands in hand holes complete push-ups. Can be done traditional style or on knees.
Let me know if you like the added challenge of the BOSU ball in your workout!
