I have a young mom. When I was a kid my mom was one of the youngest at PTA meetings, I can remember her turning the big 3-0, and I remember her being able to keep up with my crazy brother and I (we were both athletic kids).
There were times she was embarrassed about being young, but I was thankful because she was so active with us!
My mom used to sprint with us down the road and pretty sure she beat my brother until he was in high school. She was serious!

When most moms would spend pools days watching us from their lounge chairs, my mom was in the water withi us playing Shark, swimming laps, or even playing “Little Mermaid” with me (you remember, putting the dive rings around your ankles so that you had to swim like Ariel).
And now that she’s older and I’m older I am able to look back and appreciate those moments. Thanks Mom.
Fit Moms Rock!
Which is why fit moms are so much cooler than “sideline moms”! But to be fit you have to get off your tush, right? You have to take action and work to be a cool, fit mom.
Dan and I were at the park the other evening before my boot camp and it was crazy how many parents were sitting chit-chatting while their kids ran around like crazy. These kids knew what to do, to me it was a lesson the parents could have picked up on! After all those kids looked like they were having a freaking ball.
And because of that, I was inspired to share this “Playground Fitness” workout. While your kids are running around, this is a workout you can do right there, while still keeping an eye on them.
It’s just 4-exercises:
- Side Mt. Climbers
- Incline Push-ups
Questions of the day:
- What’s your favorite game with the kids?
- Do your kids like playing outside?
- When was the last time you tried to do the monkey bars?
