I was reminded today that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner… that means the rest of the week I will be giving secret, healthy tips to make this Sunday the best Valentine’s Day ever… even if you don’t have a guy to share the day with you can still enjoy it (it just means you get to save money).

Since this is the first Valentine’s Day (and only) as an engaged couple I want to do something a little special… of course it’s going to revolve around food, it’s something I am passionate about, but that doesn’t mean it has to be bad for your fitness lifestyle!

Each Valentine’s Day I make a special meal, but this year I am going to go a bit further (make it while wearing something “special”… jk); here are the foods that I am thinking about:

Dan and Taylor’s Healthy, Clean Valentine’s Day Menu

Appetizer:

  • Glass of champagne (with a raspberry floating of course)
  • Pan seared scallops with turkey bacon and scallions (instead of butter use olive oil to coat pan)

Main Course:

  • Oven baked bison steaks (well done)
  • Roasted Greek Fingerling Potatoes (sprinkled with rosemary, basil, and thyme)
  • Spinach side salad with balsamic vinagrette (topped with olives, feta, and almond slivers)

Dessert:

I have a few options I haven’t decided on…

  • Fresh strawberries dipped in dark chocolate
  • Angel food cake with a homemade berry icing (super easy, healthy and delicious)
  • Homemade clean protein strawberry cheesecake (no cream cheese is even used)

What do you think? What do you plan on enjoying? The good thing about this meal is that you won’t feel uncomfortably stuffed and will want to have some “special time” afterwards! Wink wink…
