I am going to talk about the “classic weight gain trend”… I have a great friend who married another great friend just 1 1/2 years ago, since they have been married both have put on quite a few pounds (or LBs as my friend like to put it)… she complains all the time but also laughs about it.
Anyways the ultimate dis was given to her this week at work when a colleague asked if she was pregnant.
First off, before I tell you her reaction I will admit this alone would have just killed me! I think it’s one of the worst questions a woman can get if she is indeed NOT pregnant…
Anyways she politely said no, and then jokingly said “Just packing on LBs” at that time you would think the lady would be embarrassed and walk away, but no she kept going and added that she could tell, especially around the thighs and butt area.
Of course my friend was upset and her confidence pretty much went from low to the lowest… but she still found the whole thing a little funny (let me assure you I would not think it so funny!).
Later during the night all of our friends threw on bathing suits for the pool except this married couple, and they said they were too embarrassed to put on a suit, even her husband.
This makes me so mad because they know they are gaining weight, they know how much confidence they’ve lost, they know how silly they look when everyone else is playing in the pool and they’re sitting up on the side like hermits AND they have me and Dan as friends to help them!
The problem is I think they somewhat like all of this and refuse to make their bodies healthier and back to how they looked just 12 short months ago. I keep telling her that if they are going to start trying for a baby (which they are) that they should take better care of their bodies, and if they want to reap a healthy and long life together they need to start having healthy habits now!
After all, if just in one year they’ve each gained 20-30 lbs, what’s it going to be like in 5 years?
Sorry this is so long but it was frustrating to see them… and for them to joke about their bodies.
I know this is something VERY common, after all, over 70% of women refuse to change their diets because they don’t want to give up their favorite foods. But if looking better, feeling better, carrying yourself better and living longer could all happen from just giving up a few of your unhealthy favorite foods….
Could You Change Your Diet?
And exercise for this couple? They used to be very active now, I try to push and help them to exercise but their biggest exercise is going fishing in the boat or working in the yard.
Stop Complaining And Do Something!
