With Dan, Val and Myself working hard to get The Art Of Weight Lifting launched there hasn’t been much down time to just breath. And I know that I am not alone on this…. most women (you and me included) are guilty of getting so busy and worked up that we forget about something very important:
To BREATH!
This week is my week off from teaching the kids (I coach gymnastics and cheerleading during the day) so I have

even more time to devote to my fitness training, and the site… but even better I have some extra time to just take a break and concentrate on myself.
I am giving myself 15-30 minutes of de-stress time, which is important for every woman but I also know that not everyone is on vacation right now and finding a 30 minute break period can be hard. But if you just have 5 minutes here and there then you’ll have plenty of time!
Below are my favorite tips to de-stress (in 5 minutes or less):
1. Close your eyes, put your head on the desk and take 5 minutes to literal breath. Deep breaths, and concentrate on your breathing. Feel your chest as it brings air in and pushes it out. This is very relaxing, so make sure to set a timer if you need to incase you fall asleep.
2. Rock out to your 2 favorite songs. And I do mean rock out. If you’re at work put your earphones on and listen from your ipod… lipsink, air guitar it, whatever you want. But I promise that you will have a smile on your face when those songs are over! My favorites to rock to… Pink and Old School Christina Aguilera
3. Pull your hair! Crazy sounding I am sure, but it’s true that a slight tug on your hair will help to relax you. I love this… just sit down and start from the back underside hairs and give a slight pull . Work your way up. Even better is if you can have your man do it for you!
4. Spritz your favorite smells. Smell is hooked to your emotional part of the brain and having good smells can make you feel good. Keep your favorite candle around, or your perfume and when you need to chill, just spritz or light the candle. I love Yankee Candles Coconut Bay room spray!
