Apparently the Bacon Explosion is a pretty popular bbq trend right now, I had never heard of it until one of the guys who works next door to me mentioned it… well actually he said something like this:
“Taylor, I know you’re going to think this is just awful and it is and I am embarrassed to tell you about it, but check out what my wife and I made this weekend.”
I have to share it with you, because it just made me jaw drop, made me sick to my stomach and made me want to take this guy to the hospital to have his cholesterol checked asap… so incase you have’t heard of it, this is what he told me:
- 2 pounds thick-cut sliced bacon
- 1 1/2 pounds Italian sausage, casings removed
- 3 tablespoons barbecue rub
Yup… just three ingredients in the bacon explosion!
But get a load out of the nutrition facts on this explosion… more than 5,000 calories and 500 grams of fat makes eating one of these rolls a meal for two days. Joey did tell me that he just ate one slice and felt like crap… stomach hurting, grease rolling around, tired, nauseous…
Basically eating even half of this roll is asking for a heart attack, or at least high cholesterol, blood pressure issues and clogged arteries along the way.
