I saw Taylor had just written a negative article on group fitness classes and I am going to counter her opinion. First off Taylor and I go to different gyms and the classes offered and instructors are completely different. I would absolutely be turned off by instructors that are out of shape. I guess I am lucky that most of the instructors teaching are in great shape and range from all ages.
I love group fitness classes because there is a constant challenge and I like being motivated by other’s around me to push myself. In the past I have taken a jump roping interval class (my all time favorite!!!) as well as Diesel Conditiong a boot camp style class, Capoiera a brazilian inspired martial arts type class, spin diesel a spinning and weightlifting class, and Cardio Kickboxing.
While group fitness classes alone may not allow you to see the changes you want to see in your body they are a great way to supplement your weight lifting, try a new activity, and meet some new work out buddies in the process. A group fitness class is surely not the perfect workout but it is most certainly not a bad one!
