The Working Workout Balance…

by DanB on July 10, 2009

Dan here… you know… the tech guy who’s also one of the trainers at The Art of Weight Lifting.

I felt the need to add one of my very rare posts to this most awesome women’s fitness blog. The reason being… I’ve been busting my a$$ getting all these websites up that my workout life as shamfully suffered.

Which I think gives me the right to talk about the working workout balance… aka… making sure you get your butt in the gym when your busy as hell.

Feeling Better Is Only Five (to Fifteen) Minutes Away…

Today was like anyother day. I slave behind my computer screen… as I imagine many of you ladies out there doing as well… to the point where I just DON’T want to go workout.

It’s that good ole thought… “I can just easily workout tomorrow and not lose a step.”

And yet when you wait till tomorrow you get the same excuse again… and again… and again. It’s like we always say, your body is an efficient machine and will adapt quite easily to whatever you give it. In this case my body enjoyed sitting on it’s ass and working.

However, a very interesting thing happens when you take five to fifteen minutes…

Your Energy Boosts & You Feel Most Kick Ass

It’s those five to ten minutes before working out that suck the most. Their like a roller coaster… you know the feeling (that is if you’ve ever been on a roller coaster). The anticipation of that big drop or that first crazy loop. That’s what riding a coaster is all about. But going to the gym can sometimes be the complete and utter opposite.

So here’s the story…

Today I decided to get my lazy, yet very hard working, butt in the gym and get an great workout in. I didn’t want to go, but once I got started, I became energized and I felt great.

Even better is when I got home. I was happier and felt like a bad ass. That could just be a guy thing, but something tells me that you as a women feel bad ass too when you get a great workout in.

Bottom Line…

So when you don’t feel like working out or if you’re giving yourself a really hard time… suck it out… and get your ass in there. You will feel like a million bucks when you get out.

I think that’s cooler that a rollar coaster… because your guaranteed to always have an awesome ride when you get a great workout in.

You’re so right, making that first start can be a challenge if you haven’t done anything for a while. But “Use it or Lose it” is the truest thing ever said about fitness strength training. Did you know that not only women but men too can get a big problem with osteoporosis if they don’t do some form of regular strength training from a young age onwards? Love your blog. Keep up the good work.

Hey Elizabeth…

You are so right that men have the same issues with osteoporosis. It’s actually crazy how similar men and women are with it comes to the affects of training… with some big differences of course.

Glad you like the blog… makes us happy here! Thanks for commenting too.
