Happy Friday. Ahh, we made it through another week, hopefully it was a smooth ride.
I know you came here expecting to find one of Dan’s great recap posts of the week (like this one or this one), but you’re not going to find it today.
He’s fired.

Yup, don’t worry I did it Trump style. Short and to the point. Just kidding. No, I didn’t fire my very handsome husband but I did tell him not to worry about the recap.
Because I want to share something I think is so much more fun! Okay, maybe not life changing but a fun way to go into the weekend. However, if you do want to check out my previous posts from this week (which I recommend):

As for now… let’s cover the things I learned this week.
Lessons Learned To This Crazy Thing Called Life
I’m weak.
This sucks big time. I found my old workout tracking notebook from when I was training for a figure show the other day and thought it would be cool to do some of the exercises and see how I compare.
Of course I went into the workout thinking I would demolish my old scores. Nope, turns out I am weaker and I suck need to focus more on heavy weights again. Talk about putting a girl in her place.

Now that the knee is back up, my back is feeling great it’s time to make this trainer stronger again! First step… get a new tracking book! This was the motivation I needed.
I thought I knew almonds, but I had no idea.
Almonds have 20% less calories than we all thought! Oh yay baby. So that means I can eat 20% more almonds each sitting, right? 20 almonds has only 129 calories, but if you look at the back of your almond bag, we were lead to believe they had 160 calories.

Nike loves TJ Fridays.
I think Nike gets excited every Friday because that means I come home with fresh paper bags from Trader Joes. She would spend all day inside that thing if we let her. And because she looks so stinking cute, I always feel extremely guilty tossing the bags away.

Too bad I can’t create a kitty fort for her out of grocery bags that also looks aesthetically appealing in my house. Sorry Nike.
I love running distance.
Okay, this is a shocker to me. But since I have started training for the 1/2 marathon, I’ve learned that I actually love running over 3 miles. I used to go no more than 4 miles because I thought I couldn’t.
Now that I know I can, I am freaking rocking it. Lol… okay maybe not rocking it, but able to hit my goal runs and still have energy to enjoy the day.
Dan likes okra.
This was something we both learned. I have always loved okra (I am from Charleston), and each week we see it at the farmer’s market I get a bit sad that Dan doesn’t. Finally this past weekend, I said screw it, I would fix some just for myself.

Roasted up at 415-dgrees for ~20 minutes, served with dijon mustard! Delish!
You can imagine my surprise when he told me he was up for giving it a try. You can imagine my shock when he ate it and LOVED it.
You better believe we’re loading up on some tomorrow!
- Is there a food that you thought you wouldn’t like and then were surprised to find you loved it?
I think I am in love with Dee Snider.
Awkward? Probably, but I started reading his bio,Shut Up and Give Me The Mic this week and I have a ton of respect for this guy. Did you know unlike other rock stars, he never drank or did drugs? And he’s been married to the same woman for over 20 years.
Dee, if you read this, I want to meet you.

I sweat like a man.
I don’t think I need to elaborate but if I do, just read this sweet sweat post.
And last but not least… I learned:
The Crossfit games started today.
I am not a crossfitter, I have tried it in the past and while I do think they have amazing workouts, it just wasn’t for me. However, some of these athletes are crazy and deserve spotlighted.
My friend Tina is at the games, check out her blog Carrots N Cake for details going on. Some of those girls aren’t much bigger than me and can deadlift over 250 lbs! Beasts!
