Vacation Preparedness Plan

During the summer many women get off track on their fitness plans due to vacations and a change of the norm. With the kids out of school, family members visiting, or a change in your gym schedule many lose their routine and motivation. I am leaving to go to Boston tomorrow morning for the week but I will not leave me work out behind.

If your idea of a vacation is laying on the beach allllllll day doing the margarita curl and chip and dip press you’ve got it all wrong. Now I’m for sure not saying that you cannot relax but there are 24 hrs in a day and you only need to devote one to exercise! I have a few helpful tips to keep you from gaining the normal 5 to 7 pounds people gain on vacations.

1.) PACK your gym clothes! That’s right sneakers, socks, a sports bra, shorts, and shirt. If you pack these items you will be much more inclined to use them! Get up and take a walk on the beack, in the mts wherever you are and take in the fresh air and scenery.

2.) Try something new! Vacations are a great time to try new activites whether its kyaking, a nature tour, a bicycle ride, or just lap swimming in the resort pool. The more you are active in a day the more active you want to be throughout the day.

3.) Watch your portions. We all love to indulge while on vacation and it is well deserved. However losing yourself in over portioned servings at restuarants can really damage your weight loss goals. While dining out pass on the bread and order a greens salad instead. When ordering your entree ask the server to box half and the save the rest for lunch the next day.

I always splurge and rest a little bit more then usual when on vacation which is OKAY! Just be sure to keep yourself active and keep an eye on your nutrition!
