Why I Don’t Do The Group Exercise Classes That Look Fun

My gym offers quite a few group exercises classes, and sure some of them look like they might be pretty fun just for a different activity on my fitness strength training days off… but there’s one major hold up keeping me from walking into the group room. Well, make that two.

First off, I enjoy working either by myself or with just one other person to push myself, even if it’s cardio. I have never felt 100% comfie in the group exercise classes, especially that first time you go when you don’t know a damn thing and it seems like everyone around you has the entire workout memorized.

But there is something even bigger keeping me from trying these classes… the instructors. In case you haven’t

I Want To Box!

I Want To Box!

noticed I take my workout and the time I have to workout pretty seriously. If I am going to sweat, I am going to give it my all and get all th benefits I can. But these classes are taught by people who look… what’s the word I’m looking for…

Instructors That Are Out of Shape!

Why would I want to take a calss where the instructor who teaches several times per week looks as if she has gotten nothing out of the workout. That’s not motivation to get in to the place 30 minutes early so I can join in on the kick boxing class (which is what I think would be awesome)!

Am I wrong to think this? It’s what has kept me from the group fitness room for years actually. If someone was teaching it that looked amazing and looked like the class had paid off, then hell, that’s a whole other story. I would be right there in the front row punching away and kicking an imaginary kun-fu warrior!

So for now… I am sticking to my HIIT cardio and fitness strength training!

Does anyone else share this thought process? I guess my real question is:

Would I lose my credit if I was 30 lbs overweight, looked like I ate ice cream all day and never hit the weights?

Let me know, after all, maybe I am being a little too harsh.
